Routing for WordPress and WooCommerce
Tests and diagnostics in WordPress Admin
01 · Introduction
Your site email needs a route, not luck.
Someone buys from your store and expects a confirmation. WordPress creates the message, but the site server may send it poorly or offer no clues when it fails. MailPilot connects WordPress to an SMTP provider you choose, tests the connection and shows which route each message uses.
An important message goes missing and nobody knows whether WordPress sent it.
A defined SMTP profile, test email and diagnostics to locate the problem.
02 · How it works
The path of an email
-
WordPress
An order, registration or password reset creates the message.
-
MailPilot
It selects the global SMTP profile or a Pro route for that message type.
-
Your provider
The SMTP server authenticates and accepts or rejects the message.
-
Recipient
The provider attempts delivery to the final mailbox.
MailPilot does not include mailboxes or its own sending service. SMTP acceptance does not guarantee inbox delivery; your provider and domain configuration matter too.
03 · Get started
From ZIP file to the first received email.
After buying Pro, Freemius provides the ZIP and license. If you already have Free, install its ZIP the same way. Free provides one global SMTP profile and tests; Pro adds profiles, contextual routes, campaigns, templates and a queue.
Step by step
- 01
Upload the plugin
In WordPress open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Choose the ZIP, install and activate Babel MailPilot.
- 02
Create an SMTP profile
Open Babel MailPilot → SMTP Accounts. Copy your provider details and set the sender address. Do not put a URL in the host field.
- 03
Test before routing
Run Check connection and send a test email to a mailbox you can inspect. Check its spam folder too.
- 04
Choose the route
Under Routing, assign the profile to global WordPress mail. With Pro, separate password resets, admin notices, WooCommerce and campaigns.
04 · If something goes wrong
If an email is missing, follow these clues
The connection fails
Check the host, port, encryption and credentials with your provider. Port 587 usually uses STARTTLS and 465 uses implicit SSL/TLS.
The test sent but did not arrive
SMTP acceptance is not final delivery. Check spam and provider status; ask the provider to verify SPF, DKIM and DMARC for the sender domain.
WooCommerce or campaigns have no routes
Contextual routes and campaigns require Pro; WooCommerce appears only when installed and active. Free keeps global WordPress routing.
05 · The result
You know which server sends mail and where to investigate failures.
Setup is complete when the test email arrives and a real site notification uses the chosen profile. Later you can add Pro routes without changing SMTP provider.

- Test received in a real mailbox
- Global or Pro routes reviewed
Predictable delivery
The essentials so operational email is never left to chance.
Connect the right SMTP
Save encrypted SMTP profiles, verify connections and send a test before relying on mail in production.
Separate the email that matters
Route global WordPress mail and identify WooCommerce messages without brittle subject-line rules.
Diagnose before losing a sale
Review tables, WP-Cron, OpenSSL, PHPMailer and every profile status from one screen.
No proprietary relay
You choose the provider. MailPilot organizes the delivery.
The plugin does not sell mailboxes or use its own relay. Configure the SMTP you already use; its password is stored encrypted in WordPress and is omitted from diagnostics and exports.
Built for stores, agencies and sites that rely on their email.
- WooCommerce: confirmations, status updates and operational communication.
- Agencies: reusable profiles and clear diagnostics per implementation.
- WordPress: password resets, registrations and notifications from a consistent sender.
Simple pricing, no mandatory relay
Choose by site count. Every Pro license includes the same features.
